Hyper

Hyper is a hyperlocal social commerce platform built on a people–places–activity graph. The idea is simple: your neighbourhood is alive, and your phone should reflect that. Where your friends are right now, what’s on at the cafe around the corner, which venues have offers running tonight.

Vision: The live layer of your neighbourhood.

What it does

Four interlocking pieces:

  • Discovery — find what’s happening nearby, filter by activity type, see which local spots are worth visiting based on people you trust
  • Presence — check in to places, see friends nearby in real time, control exactly who can see your location
  • Commerce — venues can claim their place, post updates, create offers, run loyalty programmes, and sell products directly in the app
  • Community — neighbourhood connections built through shared local experiences, not follower counts

Tech stack

Flutter (iOS + Android) with Riverpod state management and Mapbox for maps. Go backend running on Google Cloud Run, PostgreSQL, Pub/Sub for async events, and Stripe for payments. 150+ REST endpoints. CI/CD via GitHub Actions with dual-platform releases to the App Store and Play Store.

External integrations for the things that make a local platform rich: Spotify and Apple Music for music check-ins, TMDB for movies and TV, Ticketmaster for events, Google Places and TripAdvisor for ratings.

Status

Active. Currently piloting in Yarraville (Melbourne, Australia) and Basel (Switzerland). v1 core social platform and v2 venue commerce are both shipped. v3 — a services marketplace for local providers — is in progress.
